Graduated from Bordeaux University (Ph.D. in Materials Science), Olivier Amiel worked as a post-doc Researcher in Japan from 1992 to 1994 before joining Saft in 1994 where he has been working in different positions for the past 28 years. After several years in R&D, developing Ni-MH batteries for power applications, Olivier took the position of General Manager of Saft in China between 2008 and 2011. From 2012 to 2015, Olivier Amiel has initiated the off-road vehicle activity of Saft with a major contract won for the first generation of Volvo electric and plug-in hybrid buses. In 2016, he has joined the Industrial Standby Division as Marketing Director and developed more particularly the Product Road Map of the Division with the addition of several new products such as Flex’ion (Li-ion) for Data Centers and the Intelligent Battery solution (Ni-Cd). In Sept. 2020, Olivier took the management of the Solid State Program for Saft Group, leading a dedicated team focused on preparing the battery of the future. Since Oct.2022, he has been nominated VP Engineering & Projects to develop battery systems for the newly created division of Saft, IMI (Industry, Mobility & Infrastructure).
